for the poet laureate

Dear Carol Ann Duffy, do not fear,
The old grey Duke of Wellington
Is long dead and buried.
You would not have to thump it out.
Charles is too modest a man,
Camilla does not count.
And for Prince Philip, a jibe, a joke, a pun,
Would better suit than any ode.
As for the Queen, dear soul,
May we never see the day.
